If someone is determined to get revenge, they will do it no matter how long it might take.
A Matter of Justice begins with an English soldier committing acts of violence against his own soldiers. He and the other person working with him later go on and end up doing quite well in the field of banking. Someone knows what they did and plans revenge even if it takes many years to do it.
Rutledge had some problems of his own. He had many traumatic experiences in World War I and often hears the voice of a dead soldier in his head who even offers advice.
Rutledge runs into many problems during his investigation including people who are telling him lies. Why? Are they trying to cover up for someone?
Is Inspector Rutledge successful at solving this murder?
A Matter of Justice is an excellent police procedural novel. It is obvious that the authors did much research to write this book. Even though this is the eleventh novel in the series, it is not necessary to read any of the others before this one. Inspector Rutledge is a very strong character and even though he has several problems of his own, you will feel his determination come through as he tries to solve this case. This is a complicated mystery so be sure to pay attention as you read through this book. The writing is excellent and the authors did an extraordinary job of assembling the plot.
